The University of Colorado Cord Blood Bank (UCCBB), a major component of ClinImmune Labs, has a seventeen year history of collecting, processing, banking and distributing cord blood for human transplantation. UCCBB is a public cord blood bank, which has consented 28,000 women and banked over 8,000 cord blood units, of which more than 660 have been transplanted at over 150 transplant centers in the United States and abroad.
UCCBB is accredited by AABB and licensed by the FDA (May 24, 2012 Approval Letter-HPC, Cord Blood). It is managed by immunogeneticists and stem cell transplant physicians with decades of experience in this field. Its parent organization, ClinImmune Labs, provides sophisticated HLA high resolution DNA typing, hematopoietic stem cell processing, flow cytometry and regulatory oversight to the cord blood bank. All cord blood units are processed in a Class 1000 cGMP processing facility.
In addition to collecting umbilical cord blood at Exempla St. Joseph in Denver, with support from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Arizona Biomedical Research Commission (ABRC), ClinImmune Labs and UCCBB initiated a collaborative inter-state program to collect cord blood in Arizona, at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, Phoenix Baptist Hospital, and Maricopa Integrated Health System.
With support from the Checkoff Colorado donations in tax years 2008-2010, UCCBB established a Statewide Umbilical Cord Blood Collection program wherein qualified Colorado residents can now donate their babies' umbilical cord blood to our public bank. For more information please visit How to Donate Your Baby's Cord Blood. Watch a short video about cord blood donation.
Please Note: For donors who wish to make a contribution to the ADULT STEM CELL CURE FUND that supports the Statewide Umbilical Cord Blood Collection program , please make your check payable to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, or CDPHE. Donors should annotate in the check memo area that the money is for the Adult Stem Cell Cure Fund, and mail their checks to: Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment,
